Beach Nights and Sunbathing in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua

This annual event has been running since the year 2000 on the beaches of San Juan del Sur and is organized by member businesses of the local branch of the Nicaraguan Chamber of Micro, Small and Medium-sized Tourism businesses (CANTUR). Reina Trigueros is the President of San Juan del Sur Chapter of CANTUR.

Reina told Del Sur News; “The event NOCHES de PLAYA, BAÑOS de SOL” has been held year after year and aims to attract visitors from all over the country to officially open the Summer of 2017 on the beaches of the South Pacific Nicaragua.

Trigueros added; “This year several local businesses are sponsoring the purchase of T-shirts with the event logo. Each year space for rent is offered to micro-entrepreneurs, Sanjuaneñas, that offer food and drinks and which generates temporary jobs. As with other years, the event has the support of the local council.

Lic. Randall Granja, Deputy Mayor of San Juan del Sur expressed that: “NOCHES de PLAYA, BAÑOS de SOL” is a recreational activity that takes place every year on the beaches of San Juan del Sur and as always the management of the local council helps with coordinating the event with the businesses that form CANTUR.

  • This year it will kick off on Saturday, March 18th at 7pm to coincide with the Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzales boxing match. The fight will be presented on a giant screen at the newly re-inaugurated Sports Malecon.

  • There will be food and drink sales and then to start the party will be live music with the groups; Fusión Cuatro, Banda Chilamate and a guest DJ.

  • Hosting the event and raising the excitement level will be members of Radio La Pachanguera, Radio Los 40 and Radio Rumbos.

  • Next day, Sunday the 19th there will be beach sports at 9am, a Carnival of Comparsas (Dancers in costumes) from 2pm which will tour the main streets of the city.
City Hall will coordinate security with a special unit of police deployment for this event as well as municipal service crews that will be collecting garbage day and night. Corporate sponsored garbage containers will help guarantee keeping the beach clean.
